Iran's SNSC: Tehran Determined to Maintain Control Over Strait of Hormuz

Iran’s Supreme National Security Council (SNSC) has issued a firm statement asserting the Islamic Republic's resolve to maintain full monitoring and control over maritime traffic in the Strait of Hormuz until the definitive cessation of hostilities.

Hawzah News Agency- According to a statement released by the SNSC Secretariat regarding the latest developments in the negotiations to end the imposed war, the council emphasized that any attempt by the enemy to disrupt shipping or impose a naval blockade will be deemed a flagrant violation of any prospective ceasefire.

The statement reads as follows:

"In the Name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.

Following the enemy's unequivocal defeat on the battlefield against the historic resistance of the Iranian people and Armed Forces, the Islamic Republic of Iran entered political negotiations from a position of strength and victory.

The Iranian negotiating team, backed by the steadfast will of the people and the firepower of its combatants, will not concede an iota of the nation's interests or the sanctity of the precious blood spilled in defense of this land.

Regarding the Strait of Hormuz, a precondition for any temporary ceasefire arrangement included a conditional and limited opening of the strait strictly for commercial vessels. This does not apply to military vessels or the commercial fleet of belligerent states. All passage remains subject to the authorization and supervision of the Iranian Armed Forces and must occur solely through routes designated by Iran.

Considering that the logistical sustainment of American military bases in the Persian Gulf region relies heavily on traffic through the Strait of Hormuz—an act that inherently constitutes a threat to Iran's national security—the Islamic Republic of Iran is resolute in exercising its sovereign right to monitor and control transit through this strategic waterway until a permanent peace is secured.

This control mechanism includes comprehensive vetting of transiting vessels, issuance of transit permits in accordance with the Islamic Republic's wartime regulations, and the imposition of fees for security, safety, and environmental protection services.

The SNSC further cautions: As long as the enemy harbors intentions to disrupt maritime traffic or enforce naval blockades, the Islamic Republic of Iran will consider such actions a material breach of the ceasefire and will preclude any conditional opening of the Strait of Hormuz."

The statement underscores Iran's strategic position in the Persian Gulf and its legal right to ensure regional maritime security in the face of what Tehran describes as foreign military adventurism. The SNSC reiterated that national vigilance and public presence on the streets remain essential complements to the diplomatic front to fully consolidate the gains achieved on the battlefield.
